There is the inevitable push and pull that follows from the unique and lucky position I am in.

I’ve traveled the world, much more than I could have expected in my wildest dreams in the days of Apartheid South Africa. I’ve been blessed with opportunities, options and adventure.

Then again I am forty, have learnt some hard lessons and seen things I would not wish on my worst enemy. Traveling the world also means being away from people instead of near them.

I work in the creative industry, in a media agency, you don’t get more cool than that. Some of our clients are people I become aware of in glossy magazines and important journals when I was but a teen.

BUT I’m a techy, the head geek.

What can I conclude - drinking a bottle of Australia’s finest red before sitting in front of computer MAY feel cool - but is really gonna suck in the cold light of day tomorrow.

Firstly we see the Soviet area East German parliament, Palast Der Republik - what is left of it after “selective rebuilding”. Then we see the new united German parliament - the Bundestag with the old Reichstag building with Fosters dome in the background. This was shot from an internal bridge within the parliament complex - thanks to a behind the scenes visit.

This is followed by 2 quick shots from The Museum Island. One is the famous head of Nefertiti, the other Rodin’s thinker.

Lastly is the art installation Shalechet (fallen leaves) by Menashe Kadishman in the Libeskind designed Jewish Museum in Berlin.

As per usual I had an absolute blast in my favourite city.

I will post up a different posts of what we did, places we visited and just general musings.

We also got to see some very old and good friends like my friend Manfred whom I met in Cape Town in 96.

I’ll put up some small vids just to get a general gist.

You can add a picture by selecting “add” and choosing the picture you want.

Had a rip roaring time in which we saw: The King Tutankhamon  exhibit at the O2 arena (Millenium Dome) and went to see the Lion King in the West End.

Bit worrying that part of town is getting familiar. Had a meeting there only days before.

Well worth it though - good company, “events” and oh a Nando’s and aSpur right next to each other!
